We are super excited to announce that our new trail is open.
Its called “The Darkness”. This is a grade 4 trail and consists of mostly down hill with just a couple of short easy climbs. The trail winds its way down through pine and regenerating native with a few low level technical sections. It also has a few small drops and jumps but each has a bypass around it. At the bottom of to hill, there is a creek crossing but there is a good amount of rocks to hop over to keep your feet dry. Last bit is a short climb back to meet Kim's trail and Short Hauler entrance
To get to this trail, head in on Kim’s track and hang right up Happy Days (just before the concrete ford). At the top of Happy Days, The Darkness is on the left.
This trail was 1st scoped out in October 2022, then after a walk through with DOC in November 2022, build approval was granted. Since then, over 135 volunteer hours have gone into the build, many blisters gained and a few broken tools 😁
We hope you enjoy riding it and over the next few months, a few more little tweaks and jumps will be added, including new signage.
